More About Carolina

As a Mexican woman of Indigenous heritage, my early exposure to traditional healing practices taught me that our responses to stress, trauma, and connection are shaped by many factors. These include personal identity, lived experiences, spirituality, culture, community, sense of belonging, and the intergenerational patterns we carry. Living and practicing in Alaska has further deepened this understanding. The diversity and uniqueness of Alaska’s communities have strengthened my commitment to culturally responsive care that honors the historical, environmental, relational, and cultural contexts that influence healing.

My clinical journey has centered on working with individuals, couples, and families navigating complex trauma, relational wounds, and a wide range of treatment needs. Through this work, I have witnessed the profound resilience people carry, reinforcing my belief that we all possess innate strengths and resources that can support healing and growth. My role as a therapist is to collaborate with clients in strengthening those resources while providing a safe, supportive environment where healing, new experiences, and meaningful change can occur and gradually extend into all areas of life.

Today, I work primarily with individuals and couples impacted by complex trauma, attachment injuries, and relational distress. I am particularly passionate about supporting BIPOC and Indigenous communities, healthcare professionals, first responders, service members, veterans, and neurodivergent individuals. Across all areas of my work, I strive to help clients restore connection within themselves, their relationships, their communities, and the broader cultural and spiritual contexts that support healing and well-being.

My practice is grounded in trauma-informed care, attachment-based relational healing, and neurobiological frameworks. As part of an integrative approach, I draw from the following modalities to support healing of the heart, mind, body, and spirit:

  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

  • Polyvagal-informed and nervous system-informed interventions

  • Elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), integrated within a broader attachment- and trauma-focused framework
