Helps: individuals 13+ and couples with PTSD, anxiety, depression, complex trauma, ADHD, compulsive behaviors, life transitions, marginalized and gender minority experiences, and identity development.

Approaches: Relational psychodynamic therapy, relational cultural therapy, emotionally-focused therapy (EFT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and brainspotting.

More About Bernice

I have called the Alutiiq and Dena’ina lands home for over 30 years. I was born in Puerto Rico and my family moved to Alaska in 1990 after my father was stationed in Kodiak via the United States Coast Guard. I am licensed as a professional counselor (LPC) and am currently working towards my doctorate in Clinical-Community Psychology with a rural and Indigenous emphasis at UAA. I have experience supporting individuals and groups with a range of problems of living that include PTSD, anxiety, depression, complex trauma, life transitions, and identity development.

I interweave evidence- and practice-based interventions that emphasize the impact of systems and interpersonal relationships on mental health and wellbeing. My therapeutic approach is grounded in psychodynamic, relational-cultural theory, and liberation psychology. I am currently trained in Brainspotting (Level 2), and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) to support healing and growth.
